Your life doesn’t run on a universal timeline.

Have you ever felt like you were behind in life?

If you’ve ever:

  • Watched your friends go on retirement vacations

  • Saw your neighbours make home improvements

  • Scrolled social media and saw gold medals, holidays, or new business ventures

All while you're struggling to make it through the end of the day without forgetting to change over the laundry…

I’m here to tell you: You don’t have to hit milestones by a certain age.

Research shows that people who deviate from the social clock are just as happy, if not happier, than those who stick to it.

So, what’s really happening when you feel stressed about being “behind”?

It’s not age you’re worried about.

It’s control.

You want to feel like you’re in control of your life, not racing against someone else’s timeline.

You want to feel like you’re choosing your path, not falling behind and stuck with what’s left.

How do you fix that? (Check out “Today’s Wiser Choice” below for more!)

  • You control the things you can change.

  • You control the things you can impact.

  • You control the things you can influence.

That’s how you create happiness in your life, on your timeline.

If your career zigzags, if you haven’t found love yet, or if you’re trying to figure out where you want to live next, I want you to really hear me when I say this:

When you think you’re lost, you’re actually exploring.

When you think you’ve hit a dead end, you’re actually at the beginning.

Long-term happiness isn’t about early wins, flashy achievements, or hitting every milestone.

Stop measuring your life by comparing where you are to where other people are. That is not a roadmap to fulfillment.

Your life, your timeline, and your purpose are unfolding exactly as they’re meant to.

Today’s Wiser Choice

Try This: On paper or in your head:

Name ONE thing you’re stressed about right now: a timeline, a comparison, or a thought.

Ask yourself three questions:

  1. What can I control here?

  2. What can I influence here?

  3. What is completely outside my control?

Choose ONE small action you can do today (not someday) from the first two questions.

  • Send the email.

  • Take the walk.

  • Set the boundary.

  • Do the laundry.

Then let go of everything outside of your control.

The key here is to focus on what you can do. That is where happiness grows.
