Life doesn’t always go as planned.
Sometimes, despite your best efforts, things fall apart, doors close, or your timeline gets disrupted. Feeling stuck, frustrated, or uncertain is normal, and it doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
These moments can be the starting point for something even better, but the key is knowing how to respond when life doesn’t go your way.
Here are three steps you can take to reclaim your clarity, confidence, and momentum:
1. Pause the inner critic, and listen to your intuition.
When life starts to fall apart, the loudest voice in your head is usually your inner critic. This voice is harsh and quick to judge.
But your intuition speaks differently. It’s quiet, curious, and calm. The more you listen to that softer voice, the less power the critic has.
2. Let go of the illusion of control.
We can feel stuck when reality doesn’t match the plan we imagined. That doesn’t mean something is wrong. It means the path looks different.
Trying to control every outcome creates resistance and burnout. Instead, focus on what’s actually in your control, and remember that peace isn’t something you earn by fixing everything. It’s something you allow by directing your energy inward.
3. Reframe failure as redirection.
You are not a failure. Setbacks are not your identity. They are feedback and information.
When things feel like they’re “going wrong” you are just being nudged in a different direction.
If life is not going the way you wanted it to right now, remember this is not the end.
This might just be the beginning of something better.

Begin by putting one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Close your eyes, and take 3 slow breaths. Then, ease into the silence.
After taking a few minutes to connect with yourself, use the following journaling prompts to process through what came up for you.
Journal Prompts:
What is my inner critic saying right now?
What am I trying to control today that I need to loosen my grip on?
If this “failure” is actually redirection, what is my heart pointing me toward?
What’s one thing I can do today to follow my intuition and not my inner critic?
