Support turns effort into momentum when life gets real.

If you’ve made it to Step 6, you’ve already done something powerful. You’ve paused long enough to look at your goals differently.

You started with Gratitude, so you don’t abandon what’s working. You checked Energy, so you stop building a life that drains you. You invited Novelty, so growth can feel fresh again. You anchored in Impact, so your goals actually mean something. You committed to Upgrades, so you can build real capability instead of relying on willpower.

Now we land on the final step in my GENIUS Approach to resolutions: Support.

Support is the step that makes everything else sustainable.

Leaning on community creates a strong foundation to navigate challenges and grow with confidence. The kind that comes from knowing you’re not doing this in isolation.

If you’ve set strong goals using the foundation shared in this approach, and you’re still finding it hard not to quit… it might be because you’re alone with your goals.

When you hit a hard week, a stressful season, a dip in motivation, or a moment of doubt, without real support, that moment starts to sound like a conclusion.

Support interrupts that spiral.

It also does something else. It shortens the distance between intention and follow-through. When you have people who can reflect reality back to you, encourage you, teach you, or simply stay close while you try, you stop making normal struggle mean something is wrong with you.

That’s why the mindset shift for Support matters so much:

From: “I have to do this alone.”
To: “It’s okay to ask for and receive support. Growth thrives in connection.”

And just to be clear, support is not the same as dependency. It is not weakness. It is strategy. You don’t need a bigger personality to reach your goals. You need a stronger network.

So today, instead of asking, “How do I push harder?” ask: “Who can I lean on, and what would I ask for?”

That one shift can change your entire year.

Today’s Small Step

Support as a mindset is a shift from “I have to do this alone” to “It’s okay to ask for and receive support.”

Try This: Create a support network map.

  1. Grab a blank page and write your goal at the center. Circle it.

  2. Around it, create three rings: Inner Circle, Middle Circle, Outer Circle.

  3. Fill them in:

  • Inner Circle: people you can be honest with (close friends, partner, trusted colleague).

  • Middle Circle: people who can guide you (mentor, coach, teacher, someone ahead of you).

  • Outer Circle: communities and resources (online groups, local meetups, books, podcasts, professional networks).

  1. Next to each name or resource, write what you might ask for. Keep it simple:

  • “Can you check in with me on Fridays?”

  • “Can I ask you two questions about how you did this?”

  • “Will you come with me the first time?”

  1. Choose one ask and send it today. One text counts.

Support is not the extra step. It’s the final foundation under every step.
