Q: How do I stay spiritual in an increasingly technological world?
“It’s scary.”
“It’s going to replace my job.”
“I don’t even understand it.”
Yep, we’re going there: AI.
I’m sure you’ve either used it, or heard about it. It’s seemingly everywhere, and it feels like it popped up overnight. And because technology advances so rapidly, many of us are disoriented.
It can feel like this big, scary, dark thing. Especially when we haven’t taken the time to shine a light on it.
For us – people who want to live a life of intention — who care about our spirituality, the question is: what do we do about this mystifying technology?
A few months ago I had the privilege of sitting down with the legendary author and guru Deepak Chopra to discuss this very topic. Deepak has inspired me for many years, and I take his ideas very seriously.
In this conversation, he likened AI to a knife.
In the hand of the wrong person, it is a weapon that can be used to hurt you. In the hands of a surgeon, it can save your life.
Sure, there are unsavory uses of AI, just like any other tool.
But whether we like it or not, this is a tool that’s here to stay. And so rather than ignore it, the wiser choice is to learn to be just like the surgeon who can use this tool for good.
What does that look like in the case of spirituality?
If you just ask AI to talk with you about spirituality, it will give you fairly broad answers. But in my conversation with Deepak, he walked through the process of training AI - whether it was ChatGPT, Perplexity, or what have you - to train itself on the ancient texts he was most interested in.
You can actually tell AI, in your prompt, what wisdom to access.
As Deepak was quick to point out, AI will never have consciousness. But what it does have is superintelligence. It can read and find patterns much, much faster than any human can. So if you want it to analyze all the recorded works of Socrates, just ask. If you want it to analyze the Vedas, ask again.
If you’re not sure what to ask about, follow a trusted source like Rundown AI, to get the latest AI news, and understand why it matters. Like I do.
In Deepak’s case, he’s able to ask questions like “What did Plato think of this?” or “What did the Buddha think of that?” As a result, his spiritual practice is now enhanced by the tool.
I know this idea may seem kind of outrageous – that we can enhance our spirituality using a modern piece of technology. And by no means am I suggesting that technology should ever replace your inner wisdom. Relying too much on AI can backfire. And AI can be wrong.
Like all things, it’s a balance.
With intention, these emerging technologies can help you unlock your highest potential.
You’ve built your human circle with care. Now let tech carry some of the weight.
Everyone talks about AI, but no one has the time to learn it. So, I found the easiest way to learn AI in as little time as possible: The Rundown AI.

Today’s Wiser Choice
Whether you’ve played with AI or not, now is a great time to think about how to use it to enhance your growth journey.
Try This: What if you thought of an AI Chatbot as your own little growth and spirituality coach? Take a moment to think about what you want out of a coach. Start a list on your device. What kinds of questions do you want them to ask you? What are the values you’re trying to incorporate into your life? What are your goals?
If you’re feeling adventurous, this note is a great starting point. You can prompt ChatGPT (or the chatbot of your choice) with this very role. “Here’s your role: growth coach. These are the kinds of questions I want you to ask me, and these are the kinds of things I want you to challenge me on.” You can be as specific or as general as you’d like. Try it out! See how it feels!
