Today’s Wisdom

Recognizing an unhealed pattern allows you to respond consciously rather than automatically.

Read time: 4 minutes.
This is your permission to pause and take a little time for yourself.

Those expectations – absorbed during childhood – often dictate how we love, communicate, and protect ourselves as adults.

For example, you might have learned that expressing a need meant you were taking up too much space, or that keeping the peace required you to abandon your own boundaries.

Because our nervous system naturally equates familiar experiences with safe ones, we can find ourselves drawn to partners, friendships, or environments that recreate those exact dynamics and patterns.

When you notice yourself falling into familiar emotional loops, consider whether you are responding to the person in front of you or reacting to an unhealed part of your past. Growth requires stepping beyond what feels familiar and giving yourself permission to stay true to who you are today.

I sat down with beauty creator Mikayla Nogueira to go beyond the online persona and share the real story behind her rise. Mikayla opens up about the struggles that shaped her before finding success, the viral moment that changed her life overnight, and the painful reality of a marriage impacted by addiction and divorce. She also shares how she found her way forward, reconnected with her high school first love, and launched her own beauty brand with Sephora.
