Today’s Wisdom:
There’s a difference between moving on from the past and moving forward because of it.
Read time: 4 minutes.
This is your permission to pause and take a little time for yourself.
I was reminded of this during my recent conversation with Paris Jackson on On Purpose. We were reflecting on how quickly we label our life experiences as either "good" or "bad." But as Paris shared, life is rarely that black and white. It is always a mix of light and heavy energy, with the heaviest seasons usually carrying the quietest opportunities for growth.
It reminded me of the Buddhist idea that nothing is inherently good or inherently bad by nature. It’s the interpretations of our experiences and the meaning we attach to them that define how they shape us.
When we label a hard moment as "bad," we unconsciously lock ourselves into suffering, viewing the experience as a setback rather than a lesson. But when we strip away those labels and simply observe our circumstances — sometimes light, sometimes heavy — we open up room for curiosity.
We stop asking, "Why is this happening to me?" and start asking, "What is this teaching me?"
Nothing in life arrives with a fixed meaning. We are the ones give things meaning, and when you realize that you hold that power, even your heaviest seasons can become the chapters that build your greatest strength.

Jay ❤️
What have your difficult seasons taught you?
In this episode, Paris spoke openly about her journey through depression and addiction, and how she used to look back on her darkest chapters with regret. Over time, however, her perspective shifted.
Tune in to discover how transforming your heaviest seasons can turn past pain into purpose, help you build deep empathy, and step into the person you were meant to become.
