Rest isn’t something you earn. It’s something you need.
We often think we need to push harder and work longer to be more productive, when really, the key to being productive isn’t working nonstop.
The key to being productive is knowing how to pause, reset, and refuel… before or after your morning coffee.
Today I want to share a few of my favorite ways that I reset.
Here’s how it works: inhale for four seconds, hold your breath for four seconds, exhale for four seconds, hold your breath for four seconds, and then repeat this breathing pattern three to five times.
A few slow, conscious breaths can help lower your cortisol and make a big difference in how you feel.
Here’s how it works: wherever you are, name five things you can see, four things you can touch, three things you can hear, two things you can smell, and one thing you can taste.
Bringing yourself into the present moment is a powerful way to reset your nervous system. You’ll notice how quickly your mind finds clarity when you connect with your surroundings .
3. Creating a tech-free zone
Here’s how it works: designate one zone in your home that is tech-free, and dedicate one hour a day to being off-screen.
This is a time for you to be away from the flood of everyone‘s updates and highlight reels. It’s a time for you to reconnect with yourself and recharge your battery.
When you practice mindfulness, your focus is sharper, your energy is replenished, and your mind is ready for what’s next.
Remember: rest is not a reward.
So take a moment today to breathe and be present.
You’ll be amazed at what you’re capable of when you give yourself permission to reset and refuel.
What’s your relationship with screens right now?

On Purpose
Yesterday on my podcast I sat down with cognitive scientist and author Dr. Maya Shankar to explore why unexpected change feels so threatening to the human mind, and why losing a dream can feel like losing our identity. From a career-ending injury at a young age to deeply personal losses later in life, Maya shared how moments we never choose can quietly reshape how we see ourselves, our worth, and our place in the world.

Today’s Wiser Choice
Try This: I want you to try one of the three mindfulness practices I shared above: box breathing, the 5-4-3-2-1 technique, or creating a tech-free zone.
After doing one of them, hit reply to this email and tell me how you felt before, during, and after the practice. I want to hear what kind of impact it had on you.
