Today’s Wisdom

When you give your full presence to what’s right in front of you, life slows down.

Read time: 4 minutes.
This is your permission to pause and take a little time for yourself.

Have you ever found yourself replying to messages while brushing your teeth, eating dinner while scrolling on your phone, or trying to plan tomorrow’s schedule while trying to fall asleep?

If you are nodding along thinking, “Yup, Jay, that’s me,” you’re not alone.

I know we live in a fast-paced world and have to spend a lot of our time multitasking so that we can cram more in, be more productive, and meet all our deadlines. But when we do that, we also miss the moments we’re working so hard to enjoy.

I’ve learned there is profound freedom in putting our mind on only one task. This is sometimes referred to as one-mindedness — the practice of giving your full attention to only one thing at a time.

When we constantly split our attention, we may feel like we're getting more done, but switching between tasks can actually make it harder to focus and work efficiently. But when you give your full presence to what’s right in front of you, life slows down and becomes richer.

Today, try bringing all your attention to a single daily habit.

  • When you brush your teeth tonight, concentrate just on the sensations in your mouth.

  • When you sit down for dinner, let the food and the room have your full attention.

  • When you step outside, focus completely on the feeling of the air against your skin.

When you allow your mind to do one thing at a time, you teach yourself how to savour the little moments.

Love,
Jay ❤️

When we rush through our days on autopilot, we miss what we're striving so hard to build. Slow down, and do one thing at a time. Be present where you are and with what’s in front of you.
