Today’s Wisdom

Financial ease begins when you stop letting inherited childhood habits drive your money choices.

This is your permission to pause and take a little time for yourself.

Most people assume financial literacy is just about math, budgets, and spreadsheets. But I’ve come to realize that financial literacy isn't about learning how money works. It's about learning how you work around money, and being mindful about money.

Think back to the house you grew up in.

Your actual first financial advisor was your childhood. You learned what money felt like long before you knew how it worked. Whether you heard your parents argue over bills, talk about their income anxiously, or avoid the topic altogether, those moments could have unconsciously shaped, what psychologists call, "money scripts" that may quietly run in the background of your adult life.

When you feel anxious before opening a banking app or find yourself avoiding certain financial decisions, it may have less to do with what you know and more to do with beliefs about money that have become familiar over time.

Wealth begins when you stop treating your financial habits as fixed personality traits and start seeing them as old programming you can rewrite. Financial freedom begins the moment you understand the emotional attachments driving your choices and start using money as a tool for peace, rather than a measure of your worth.

In this episode, I break down five lessons, from how childhood shapes the way we spend and save, to what we’re really buying when we make a purchase, what money can and can’t solve, why simple systems work better than willpower, and how to make money work for you instead of letting it run your life.
