Today’s Wisdom
The morning doesn’t depend on you figuring everything out. The sun doesn’t ask whether you’ve answered every question before it rises.

Read time: 6 minutes.
This is your permission to pause and take a little time for yourself.

There are a lot of reasons sleep doesn't come easily. But the one I hear about most from readers is racing thoughts: you believe that your midnight mind is somehow responsible for healing what happened today, or controlling what happens tomorrow. Like if you just think hard enough or stay up late enough, you can sort it all out and then file it away.

But here's the thing: sleep is the sorting mechanism—a process made to support the filing, restoring, and repairing. (There's some great research from Harvard Health on this, if you want to dig in deeper.)

So when we lie there working the problem instead of actually resting, we may not be helping sort things out at all. We might be getting in the way. We stop trusting our brain and body to do its job, and we hand the work over to a tired, overwhelmed mind instead.

More often than not, we just need a gentle reminder: our body already knows exactly what to do, and if we simply take care of our body in that moment, it can do the same for us. That's why tonight, I don't want you writing tomorrow's story before you've even opened the first page.

I want you to try to let sleep finish the chapter instead.

Love,
Jay ❤️

In this episode, I help you shift the question from what your mind can solve tonight to what your body is still carrying. And I share a guided visualization you can listen to before bed, or even once you're already there.
