Today’s Wisdom
Different physical environments can refresh your mind and restore your mental energy.
Read time: 4 minutes.
This is your permission to pause and take a little time for yourself.
When a lot of us made the shift toward working from home, I realized that, if I wasn’t traveling or at an event, I was always in my house. I’ve spent more time at home over the last few years than ever before, and over time, home slowly transformed from a sanctuary into an office, a studio, a gym, and everything in between.
Recently, I’ve been making a deliberate effort to step out into the world more often. I’ve started going to a gym instead of working out at home, heading into the office to get work done, taking walks outside, and making plans to meet up with friends outside the house.
It’s amazing how a simple shift in environment can completely refresh your mind.
If you also feel a bit stifled, try separating movement, work, and connection into 3 different physical spaces.
Movement: Join a walking group, try out a fitness class in town, or invite a friend to a nearby park. Moving your body in a different environment breaks up the monotony of being at home.
Work: If you work remotely, try going to a cafe, a library, or a coworking space, if you can. Changing up where you work can help draw a clear line between your professional and personal life.
Connection: Plan to meet up with friends at a restaurant, a local event, or a farmer’s market. Gathering in shared spaces grounds you in the vibrant life happening in nearby communities.
When you step out into the world, you signal to your mind that it’s time to reset. If you can, pick even one shift to try this week and notice the difference you feel in your energy.
Love,
Jay ❤️
What change of scenery refreshes you?
Protecting your energy is about choosing where your life actually happens. When home becomes everything, you cut yourself off from having new experiences. By intentionally stepping into different physical environments, you revitalize your daily energy.
