Today’s Wisdom:
Sharing what’s on your heart can be the key to finally setting your soul free.
Read time: 4 minutes.
This is your permission to pause and take a little time for yourself.
Are you holding yourself back from sending a text that, in your heart, you know you should send?
I recently sat down with someone who spent 15 years waiting to text her high school teacher, Mr. K. The belief he had in her writing at the time felt like a lifeline, but she was hesitant to thank him because she felt like she needed a better job or a bigger writing accomplishment before she could reach out.
She had been waiting to become successful enough to feel worthy of his pride.
When she finally sent the message, he called her within minutes from his classroom. Through teary eyes, he said: "I’m proud of you… but are you proud of you?"
I want you to take this lesson to heart: sometimes, sharing words you’ve been holding back can bring a sense of relief, but not every message needs to be sent to have an impact.
Try this practice today:
Think of one person you’ve been meaning to reach out to.
Draft a simple message expressing what you’ve been holding back.
Don't edit for perfection or wait for the “right moment”.
Press send or keep the message just for you.
Give yourself the space to be honest, whether you choose to send the message today or simply write it for yourself.
Love,
Jay ❤️
What kind of message have you been holding back?
You may have a message you’ve never sent. The teacher who saw you when no one else did. The friend who showed up at the worst moment. The mentor who told you who you could be before you believed it yourself. Most of us carry messages like that for years. Some of us never send them. In this video, you’ll watch me coach the decision to send the text message, as the emotions and revelations unfold in real time.
