Q: What’s a special way to show my family love this holiday season?
Let me start off by saying, I’m not the cook in my family.
Growing up, my Mom was an incredible cook so I had no reason to learn. And now, I live with my wife Radhi, who is an absolutely outstanding cook, so I spend even less time in the kitchen now.
Radhi would tell you that I am totally lost in the kitchen.
I would tell you that I’ve always found the kitchen to be stressful. I don’t know why.
And yet…
When I cooked with Radhi, even though I wasn’t very good at it, I felt good. I felt warm. Radhi was appreciative, and that made me happy.
After all, what is cooking for others but an act of service? It’s a form of altruism that can make you feel happy and connected to the people you love. And as people who have been following my work for a while will know, I believe that service is the direct path to a meaningful life.
To serve is to love. To leave people happier than you found them.
So finding a time to say, “Hey, I’ll handle dinner tonight,” can be the perfect way to show people your love and give yourself a moment of calm. After all, time in the kitchen is an opportunity for mindfulness. Taking the time to be fully present and immersed in the process of meal preparation may even reduce stress and irritability – even that which comes during the holidays. So this holiday season, find time to cook for someone.
And if kitchens stress you out (like they do me), try making them more exciting: bring home a colourful new mixing bowl, invest in cookware that actually makes you want to cook, or simply pull out that hand-me-down casserole dish filled with loving scratches and memories.
Cooking isn’t just about food, it’s about creating moments that bring people together. But it’s hard to enjoy it when your pans fight back. Burned sauces, uneven heat, endless scrubbing… we’ve all been there.
That’s why HexClad exists, hybrid cookware that blends stainless-steel strength with nonstick ease. Their patented design delivers perfect searing, effortless cleanup, and durability that lasts for years. It works on any stovetop and is oven-safe up to 900°F, ready for anything your kitchen (or the holidays) demand.
It’s the cookware trusted by Michelin-Star chefs and home cooks alike, and once you try it, you’ll understand why.

How confident are you in the kitchen?
On Purpose
On Friday’s episode of On Purpose, I shared the lessons I wish someone had told me earlier, about success, strength, sacrifice, and the difference between chasing outcomes and building a life that actually feels right. We talked about the 1% principle, why confidence doesn’t come from success, and how to stop living for other people’s approval. If you’ve ever felt lost, burnt out, or unsure of what really matters, I hope this episode helps you slow down, reconnect, and choose a path that’s truly yours.
Wherever you’re listening from, I hope you hear something that stays with you. The full episode is available now.

Today’s Wiser Choice
Now, I know I focused a lot of today’s wisdom on cooking for people you love. But the truth is, you get the same benefits no matter who it is you’re cooking for.
Try This: I want you to open up your calendar right now, and find a night that you can take time to mindfully cook. Block off that night right now, and reach out to someone who you can cook for. Can be friends, family, or just people around the community. If you need some time alone, then treat yourself as the special guest of the night.
Reply to this email and tell me what you’re going to cook. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!
