One clear answer can save you years.
People ask me questions all the time.
And I’m so grateful for that because being trusted with someone’s story is such an honour.
If you’ve ever been to one of my events and stayed for the Q&A, you’ll know that I often sit on the edge of the stage so I can get as close as I can to the audience in those moments.

I do this because when you tell me in your own words what you’re struggling with, something shifts. I see your shoulders drop, your face change, your breath come back. It’s like your body admitted the truth before your mind could talk you out of it.
That’s when I know we’re right on the edge of transformation.
Let me share an example.
Last month, I met a woman who came to my Q&A with what sounded like a simple question about finding more balance in her life.
But as we kept talking, the real issue started to show.
Her question wasn’t really about balance. It was about guilt.
She’s currently caring for her aging parents, and every time she leaves their house, anxiety kicks in. Even if she’s just going out for dinner with a friend. Lately she’s been bringing her laptop over to her parent’s house and working remotely from there, because being away from them has become so overwhelming.
By the end of her story, she wasn’t really asking how to create “balance.” She was asking how to live her life without feeling like a bad daughter every time she stepped away.
I told her that, a year ago, I would’ve said what most of us say when talking about balance: you need space, you need rest, and you’ll be a better caregiver to them when you’re taking care of yourself too.
But that wasn’t the answer I gave her.
Because we were talking about guilt now. Instead, I shared something that I’ve been embracing lately as I lean back into Buddha’s teachings. (I’ll share my answer here tomorrow, so don’t forget to check back!)
The way she softened in real time (and the way it hit me, too) is something I’ll carry for a long time.
And it all happened because she chose to tell the raw, honest truth about what was really going on.
We all need more honesty and vulnerability right now.
That’s why I’m excited to announce the launch of my NEW virtual event series, called Ask Jay LIVE.

It’s exactly what it sounds like: a virtual Q&A, where you ask your most honest question, and I give you my most honest answer, so you can start building the foundation for real transformation in your life.
