Today’s Wisdom

Extraordinary lives are built when you step forward before feeling 100% ready.

Read time: 4 minutes.
This is your permission to pause and take a little time for yourself.

In reality, it is almost always the result of it.

When you look at people who have built extraordinary lives, you realize that most of them didn’t know where they were going when they first started out. They simply had the courage to step forward into the unknown, trusting that the direction would reveal itself along the way.

We spend an enormous amount of energy trying to avoid making mistakes, believing that a wrong turn will permanently derail our future.

But failure is actually one of our strongest tools, capable of stripping away our illusions and showing us what we are actually made of. I know that setbacks and shortfalls can feel brutal in the moment, but they also force you to develop your resilience.

If you are waiting for a moment of complete certainty before you make a move, you will likely spend your life standing on the sidelines. The confidence you are searching for is not something you feel before you act, but rather a strength you earn when you start taking steps forward.

I sat down with Sylvester Stallone to trace the extraordinary journey from a painful, unwanted childhood to the creation of Rocky, and the $360,000 offer he turned down rather than compromise his self-respect. Stallone reflects on the decades of rejection, health struggles, and career setbacks that shaped the man behind the legend. He opens up about his mother’s emotional distance, his father’s advice on his deathbed, and the life philosophy he discovered only after letting go of the need to constantly fight.
