There is a deep exhaustion many of us carry.
We constantly optimize, grind, and run, trying to keep up with a culture that praises overextension. It’s easy to assume that the solution is a quick vacation or a new job.
But there is a deeper truth we have to face: hustle culture is often a way of trying to prove to ourselves that we deserve to take up space. And until we understand that, we can’t change our behaviours or habits.
The reality is, you cannot rest your way out of a problem that is fundamentally about worth.
Many of us are trapped on the treadmill because we learned somewhere along the way that being productive was the price of being loved. This secret belief keeps us trapped. We treat rest as something we have to earn.
But rest is actually a requirement.
I encourage you to stop trying to manage your time and start managing your energy. Treat yourself like an athlete in your own life – work hard and recover hard.
Nobody is coming to give you permission to stop. That permission has to come from you.
What keeps you from slowing down?

On Purpose
In this episode of On Purpose, I explore the hidden cost of hustle culture and why so many people are exhausting themselves in the pursuit of success. I reflect on how productivity has become tied to self-worth, where being busy is mistaken for being valuable. I unpack the emotional drivers behind overworking, the fear of falling behind, the pressure to prove yourself, and the belief that rest must be earned. I also reframe what real rest actually looks like and how restoration must be woven into everyday life.
