Welcome to Day 5 of May Meditation!

We are officially five days into this challenge, and I want you to take a minute to acknowledge yourself. In a world that constantly demands your attention, you’ve chosen to give some of that attention back to yourself. That is a powerful act of self-love.

So far in this challenge we’ve practiced:

Today, I want to talk about energy.

You can think of energy like water in a reservoir. When you are focused and intentional, the water is deep, calm, and powerful. When you are stressed, it’s like having a hundred tiny leaks in the dam.

Meditation is the process of patching up the leaks and calling that energy back home.

Day 5 Practice:

Today, we are going to do a Loving-Kindness Meditation. This practice asks you to direct a specific frequency of energy, compassion, toward yourself and then outward to the world.

  1. Find stillness: find a seated position, and take a deep breath into your heart space – the center of your chest.

  2. Self-compassion: picture yourself sitting right in front of you. Look at yourself through the eyes of a friend. Repeat these words:

    • “May I be happy. May I be peaceful. May I be free from suffering.”

  3. Compassion toward a loved one: bring to mind someone you love. Picture them clearly and direct the same energy toward them by repeating these words:

    • “May you be happy. May you be peaceful. May you be free from suffering.”

  4. Compassion toward the world: imagine a golden light expanding from your heart, covering your home, your city, your country, and the whole world. Feel the intention of these words reaching everyone:

    • “May all beings be happy. May all beings be peaceful. May all beings be free from suffering.”

Sit for a few minutes in the compassion you just shared. Notice how it feels to be a source of light rather than just a witness to stress. When you open your eyes, try to carry that golden light into the rest of your day.

You’re doing incredible work! I’ll see you back here tomorrow for Day 6!

With love,
Jay ♥️
